However I can not recommend even a brand new cast iron fly wheel. If you are using a clutch I strongly recommend a forged aluminum SFI rated flywheel encased in a steel SFI rated safety bell housing. Re: Fixing a bent flywheel I agree with the others here, if cast iron looks bent, chances are it's cracked. If it's cracked, even using your proposed method, you run the risk of failure-NOT good. If you can't find a replacement flywheel you could probably "straighten" the old one enough to use as a pattern to have a new one cast.
